Abstract

Color therapy by Mandala design is one technic of art therapy. Anger is a mental emotional mode and is determined by cognitive contradiction and mental arousal, and it is normal excitement or many adaptive aspects. The main objective of this research is determination of the effectiveness of color therapy by Mandala design method on students’ anger of the second period girl elementary school from Bikah region (one region of Rudan city). The methodology of this research was quasi-experimental and pre-test, post-test. Statistical population of this study includes all sixth grade students of the second period girl elementary school in 100 person (from 5 schools). Sample volume was selected using Morgan table and simple random sampling method in 80 persons (40 for control group and 40 for test group). Then, Novaco Anger questionnaires (1998) were distributed among participants of both groups, then color therapy method by Mandala design based on Labadi and Ronaghi (2010) protocol was executed on participants for 1 month. Finally, questionnaires were given to both group. Research data was analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistical methods and multivariate variance analysis. Then, research hypotheses were confirmed using SPSS software based on covariance analysis (ANCOVA) with proper values. The obtained results from covariance analysis showed that color therapy by Mandala method influences on students’ anger, and there was a significant difference between anger of pre-test in control and test groups (P<0.05, F=8.6). Therefore, first hypothesis was confirmed. These results generally show that color therapy by Mandala methods influences on students’ anger and reduces their angers.
